A trade Union With a high level of Loyalty, Transparency, Ethics, Dignity & Activism. Established in 1971 & led by the veteran Leaders and the stalwarts of Trade Union sector, We always cherish the revolutionary ideologies of our senior leaders and the trail of legacy they have left behind.
The Union Bank Officers Association(Kerala Region) was Formed on October 3rd 1971 at Aluva Lead office through a meeting of 27 officers.
The association included two branches from Kanyakumari District of Tamilnadu State also, namely Vadassery and Marthandam.
The reason for forming a separate union for officers breaking up from the Employees Union was the turbulence faced by the officers community during that stint.
Management was discussing the issues of officers also with the Employees Union and a just and genuine representation of officer issues were denied at that time.
It was against the interest of the officers since we demanded a separate discussion with the management exclusively for tabling the issues of officers.
In 1971 the direct recruitment was started in our bank and the employees Union called for a series of agitation against the management decision in 1973 which lasted for 93 days. The most turbulent phase the officers association and the officers community had undergone may be during that tenure.
Com. N.S.Iyer, Com. P.S Padmanabhan, Com. P.S.G.Nair & Com. S.Mukundan were the stalwarts who were our leaders at the stage of inception from 1970-80.
Then the lantern was carried over to Com. V.G.Laxmanan & Com.C.L.Thomas for a short stint.
Com. P B Thomas & Com. K. Padmanabhan took the charge of our association in 1990's. Com. P.B.Thomas was the General Secretary from 1990-1995. In 1995 Com. K. Padmanabhan took the charge as General Secretary and Com. P.B.Thomas as the President. The leadership continued to 2009.
Then the association was taken forward by Com. Ashokan, Com. Venugopola Pillai, Com P.V.Mohanan, Com. P. Sasidharan and Com. K.Surendran.
